Description
The Cisco SM-X-72FXS is a double-wide, high-density analog voice service module designed for Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers. It delivers 72 FXS ports in a single module, enabling large-scale connectivity for analog phones, fax machines, modems, and legacy voice devices within modern IP telephony environments.
Built with an onboard DSP, the SM-X-72FXS supports advanced voice features such as echo cancellation, voice compression, fax relay, modem pass-through, and DTMF detection—without requiring additional DSP hardware on the router. Extended loop support (FXS-E) allows for longer cable runs and higher loop current, making it ideal for enterprise campuses, hospitality, healthcare, and service-provider deployments.
With support for major call-control protocols and seamless integration with Cisco Unified Communications platforms, the SM-X-72FXS provides a scalable, reliable solution for migrating or expanding analog voice infrastructure while maintaining centralized management and IP-based control.
