The Cisco SM-X-8FXS/12FXO is a fixed-port, high-density analog voice service module designed for Cisco ISR 4000 Series routers. It enables seamless integration of legacy analog telephony and PSTN connectivity into modern IP voice infrastructures.
This single-wide service module provides 8 FXS ports for analog phones, fax machines, and modems, along with 12 FXO ports for PSTN or PBX connections. An onboard DSP delivers advanced voice processing features such as echo cancellation, voice compression, fax relay, and DTMF detection—eliminating the need for external DSP modules.
Built for enterprise and branch deployments, the SM-X-8FXS/12FXO supports survivable voice architectures, E-911 connectivity, and high availability through online insertion and removal (OIR). It is ideal for organizations modernizing voice networks while preserving analog endpoints.
