The Cisco NCS-5504 is a high-performance modular routing chassis engineered for cloud-scale WAN aggregation, service provider networks, and large enterprise backbones. Designed as part of the Cisco Network Convergence System 5500 Series, this 4-slot chassis delivers exceptional scalability, reliability, and flexibility for next-generation IP and optical networks.

Built on a non-blocking Clos fabric architecture, the NCS-5504 supports a wide range of high-speed interfaces including 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G, 100G, 200G, and 400G Ethernet through compatible line cards. It enables up to 14.4 Tbps of full-duplex system throughput, making it ideal for dense aggregation, peering, and core routing environments.

The chassis supports redundant route processors, system controllers, fabric cards, fan trays, and power supplies, ensuring carrier-class availability and in-service upgrades. Running Cisco IOS XR software, the NCS-5504 provides advanced routing features, automation, telemetry, and high-scale IPv4/IPv6 forwarding, while maintaining operational efficiency and future-readiness for evolving network demands.
